Cog Hill Golf & Country Club Selects Synthetic Turf International
Indoor Learning Center Expands with Second Putting Green

Lemont, Illinois

April 21, 2006, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), a global synthetic turf supplier and installer of premium synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, recently completed installation of a synthetic putting green at cog Hill Golf & Country Club located in Lemont, Illinois.  The project was facilitated in conjunction with Manteno, Illinois-based, Synthetic Turf of Illinois.

The project encompassed the installation of an indoor putting green, the second such project of its kind, at the indoor learning center of Cog Hill’s golf instructor, Kevin Weeks.  Weeks, a PGA golf professional with 18 year’s experience, knows the game of golf and understands the art of putting.  In his quest to find the truest rolling and correct synthetic surface on the market, Weeks investigated numerous synthetic putting surfaces from a host of manufacturers.  He wanted a turf that would provide a consistent roll without influencing the golf ball’s trajectory.  Weeks’ search culminated in STI’s exclusive nylon NP 50 turf.  He was impressed with the NP 50’s premium putting ability, true roll, natural look, feel and virtually maintenance-free durability.  With a consistent read of 10 or 1l on the Stimp meter, STI’s synthetic green allows Weeks’ students to develop their touch and technique.  An added benefit is the turf’s all-weather playability.  The putting greens are used in conjunction with the learning center’s state-of-the-art lasers and other leading-edge equipment utilized for both fitting and instruction.

“We are pleased to be involved in a project at a course as prestigious as Cog Hill.  Their learning center is named one of the top 15 ranges in the entire Midwest,” states STI President William Campbell.  “And the fact that this project is a repeat project means a great deal to us.  This means we’re doing something right.”

Synthetic Turf of Illinois—the distributor responsible for the project—President Doug Steeves states, “Because we’re right here in Illinois we’re well aware of Cog Hill’s storied history and we fully understand Kevin’s position in the industry and Illinois golf.  In two words it’s validating and gratifying to have been chosen for this signature project.”

Located less than 30 miles southwest of Chicago, Cog Hill offers four 18-hole regulation golf courses and is home to Chicago’s only PGA tour stop, hosting the Western Open since 1990.  Kevin Weeks is in his ninth season at Cog Hill.  He was named 2005 Illinois PGA Teacher of the Year and was ranked second in Illinois by Golf Digest Magazine for 2005.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Jupiter, Florida, STI is the industry leader, supplying synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces to country clubs, public and private golf  clubs, teaching facilities and short game academies. The company holds longstanding endorsement relationships with David Leadbetter and Jim McLean, two of the golf industry’s best known and most sought after instructors. STI also supplies synthetic surfaces for other sports, such as football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, lawn bowling, bocce and other sports utilizing play fields.
