Synthetic Turf International Transforms High-Rise Rooftop into Urban Oasis
Belmont Group Maximizes Space While Creating Workday Retreat

Dallas, Texas

August 8, 2007, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), a global synthetic turf supplier and installer of premium synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, recently completed the installation of a unique rooftop lawn.  The project, completed on behalf of the Belmont Group, is located in downtown Dallas, Texas.  STI’s Dallas distributor, Hill Country Synthetic Turf, assisted in the installation.

Constructed of STI’s SoftLawn®® Fescue nylon turf, the 1,800 square foot rooftop retreat showcases the benefits of utilizing synthetic turf.  Rooftop gardens provide an obvious urban aesthetic, however, creating cost-effective green space can prove challenging.  Synthetic turf is the ideal solution, requiring no irrigation, fertilizers or pesticides.  Mowing and maintenance are also eliminated, thereby, decreasing not only labor and maintenance costs, but green waste, air and noise pollution as well.  Additionally, synthetic rooftop gardens and lawns are able to withstand severe climate extremes while providing noise insulation in buffering exterior ambient sounds.

Belmont Group’s sprawling rooftop lawn lends itself to the building’s Beaux-Arts style of architecture.  The synthetic oasis is situated on a rooftop balcony in direct view of the Company’s main conference room, providing employees and visitors a rejuvenating respite from the workday world.

“There is an increasing need for more green space in today’s urban landscape,” states STI President William Campbell.  “Rooftop gardens are not new.  European countries began subsidizing their construction during the 1960’s.  The implementation of rooftop gardens and green- roofs in North America is just beginning to take off.  Demand is expected to grow exponentially into the next decade.”

Founded in 1995, with international headquarters in Jupiter, Florida, STI is recognized as the leading supplier/installer of residential or backyard synthetic putting greens. STI projects range from condominiums and townhouses to single family homes and large residential estates. The company supplies a host of golf-specific synthetic turf solutions to country clubs, golf clubs, teaching facilities and short game academies. STI is endorsed by David Leadbetter, one of the industry’s most respected instructors.  STI provides and installs synthetic surfaces for recreation and sport venues both professional and amateur, including youth football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, lawn bowling, bocce and other sports.
