Synthetic Turf International Putting Greens at “World’s Largest 19th Hole”
PGA Tour Superstore World Amateur Handicap Championship

Myrtle Beach Convention Center, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

August 12, 2005, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), an industry-leading supplier of premium putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, will introduce its naturalistic putting greens to more than 5,000 players from 50 states and 30 foreign countries at the “World’s Largest 19th Hole,” at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in South Carolina. The convention center is the official exhibit site of the PGA Tour Superstore 22nd Annual World Amateur Handicap Championship (“World Am”) golf tournament. STI will install three above-ground putting greens, which will be used by convention center visitors and exhibitors during the World AM.

Open to all amateur golfers with a verifiable USGA handicap index, the World Am is the top amateur golf event in the world. The five-day, 72-hole event is played on more than 80 courses in the Myrtle Beach area. Each evening during tournament week players and spectators will converge upon the convention center to view scores, share in food and drink and talk golf. While there, they will have an opportunity to sink putts up to 30 feet.  The installation will be completed in conjunction with Heritage Landscape Designs of Anderson, South Carolina.

Commenting on the project, STI President William Campbell states, “The World Am is a huge event and we’re excited to be a part of it.  A record number of very good golfers will experience our putting greens each day. We’re excited about the potential for feedback. Of course, we’re also excited to have our greens exposed to such a captive audience. The attendees will be taken with the true roll and realistic feel of our putting surface.”
