Synthetic Turf International Puts Concert Venue on Firm Footing
Synthetic Surface Debuts at 2nd Annual Silver Spring Jazz Festival

Silver Spring, Maryland

September 8, 2005, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), an industry-leading supplier of premium putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, is utilizing its naturalistic synthetic lawn surface at the Silver Spring, Maryland, Jazz Festival.  The 35,000 square foot concert venue, sponsored by Montgomery County, Maryland, was created on a vacant lot in downtown Silver Spring.  To create a realistic concert site, STI surfaced the entire area with synthetic turf; its Super Poly 100 synthetic turf.  The Super Poly 100, a tufted turf, is lifelike in appearance, robust and natural to the touch.

Commenting on the project, STI President William Campbell states, “The Festival is an excellent application for our synthetic turf.  Our synthetic grasses offer a soft, natural feel, yet are tough enough to withstand the heaviest of foot traffic.  We’ve created a beautiful, durable green lawn for this year’s festival-goers to enjoy.”

This year’s Festival, which will be held in Downtown Silver Spring September 10, 2005, is dedicated to the memory of Silver Spring’s adopted son, the legendary jazz bassist Keter Betts, who died last month at his home in Silver Spring.  Headlining this year’s festival is New Orleans native Wynton Marsalis.  Montgomery County, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will collect donations to support those in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region whose lives have been so drastically affected by Hurricane Katrina.

Founded in 1995 and headquartered in Jupiter, Florida, STI is the industry leader, supplying synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces to country clubs, public and private golf  clubs, teaching facilities and short game academies. The company holds longstanding endorsement relationships with David Leadbetter and Jim McLean, two of the golf industry’s best known and most sought after instructors. STI also supplies synthetic surfaces for other sports, such as football, soccer, lacrosse, baseball, lawn bowling, bocce and other sports utilizing play fields.

In addition to golf and sporting applications, STI is widely recognized as a principal supplier of synthetic surfaces for high-end residences, parks, playgrounds, school play yards, cruise ships, hotels and other hospitality settings. STI synthetic surfaces can be custom configured to replace grass, gravel or other surfaces in virtually every imaginable situation and location.  STI has a comprehensive network of distributor partners, throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Spain, England and South Africa.  STI will install synthetic surfaces anywhere in the world.
