LPGA and Nationwide Tour Players Participate
Boise, Idaho
September 22, 2005, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), a global synthetic turf supplier and installer of premium synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, supplied the practice tee box for the 2005 Kraft/Nabisco Shoot-Out charity event. The sponsorship was facilitated in conjunction with Meridian, Idaho-based Medalist Putting Greens.
The September 19, 2005, event was held at Hillcrest Country Club in Boise, Idaho. The Shoot-Out pitted the Nationwide Tour leaders against stars from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA). LPGA Tour players competing in the event included Tour veterans Annika Sörenstam, Juli Inkster, Natalie Gulbis and Paula Creamer. Representing the Nationwide Tour were Troy Matteson and Tour veteran Jason Gore. The three charities benefiting from the 2005 Shoot-Out are; Breast Cancer Research (Sörenstam/Creamer,) Women's Heart Disease Research (Inkster/Gulbis,) and Prostate Cancer Research (Gore/Matteson). Sörenstam and Creamer won the nine-hole skins event, earning $15,000 for women's breast cancer research.
The joint sponsorship encompassed installation of a 12 foot by 48 foot tee box which players used during their warm-up prior to tee-off. The warm-up also provided an opportunity for spectators to interact with players. Additionally, STI and Medalist provided putting greens and a driving mat and net which spectators used to experience first hand, STI’s innovative E Z Tee turf system. E Z Tee is a naturalistic synthetic turf designed specifically for driving range tee lines. In addition to being able to hit “off the deck” down and through the ball, golfers can also hit off a regulation golf tee, placed in the E Z Tee surface.
Commenting on the Shoot-Out, STI President William Campbell states, “It’s exciting to be involved in a charity event of this magnitude. These are some of golf’s finest players. The competition was fiece, but the true victors are the charities supported by this event.”
