Synthetic Turf International Completes Indoor Teaching Facility
Robert Trent Jones Golf Club Utilizes Synthetic Putting Green and Driving Surface

Facility Serves as International Bungalow for Presidents Cup International Team

December 5, 2005, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), global synthetic turf supplier and installer of premium synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, recently completed the installation of synthetic surfaces at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Club Indoor Learning Facility in Gainesville, Prince William County, Virginia.  The project was facilitated in conjunction with Vienna, Virginia-based, Short Game Greens.

The 1,300 square foot project encompassed the installation of a twelve-hole indoor putting green and custom-made indoor hitting mats.  The putting surface, completed with STI’s exclusive nylon NP 50 turf, and the hitting mats, constructed with STI’s innovative E Z Tee surface, permit year-round use of the facility by club members.  STI’s E Z Tee system is a naturalistic synthetic turf designed specifically for driving range tee lines. In addition to being able to hit “off the deck” down and through the ball, golfers can also hit off a regulation golf tee, placed in the E Z Tee surface.

Robert Trent Jones Golf Club is home to the prestigious Presidents Cup, a biennial event developed to give the world’s best non-European players an opportunity to compete in international competition.  A match-play event, The Presidents Cup pits an International Team of 12 players against a dozen of the United States’ best players.  The club’s Indoor Learning Facility housed the international team and served as a meeting and recreation area for the team between matches.

Commenting on the project, STI President William Campbell states, “This indoor training facility is the perfect setting for STI’s putting surface and E Z Tee system.  The functionality and durability of these materials combined with their aesthetic value make them a logical choice for an esteemed club such as RTJ.  Golfers there expect an extraordinary experience and our putting surface and tee line material facilitate that experience.”
