Synthetic Turf International Completes Signature Project
David Leadbetter Junior Golf Academy at International Management Group
State-of-the-Art Facility Gets Synthetic Putting Green and Tee Line
December 18, 2005, Jupiter, FL—Synthetic Turf International (STI), a global synthetic turf supplier and installer of premium synthetic putting greens and related synthetic surfaces, recently completed the installation of a synthetic putting green and driving range tee line at David Leadbetter Golf Academy’s (DLGA) junior facility at International Management Group (IMG) Academies located in Bradenton, Florida.
The project encompassed the installation of CoverShots, a 2,100 square foot covered synthetic tee line, and the conversion of a 4,000 square foot bunker to a 2,673 square foot synthetic putting green. The putting green, completed with STI’s exclusive nylon NP 50 turf, is used in tandem with the facility’s 20,000 square foot natural grass putting green. With a consistent read of a 10 or 1l on the Stimp meter, STI’s synthetic green allows students to develop their touch and technique through true roll characteristics found in select professional greens.
Constructed with STI’s innovative E Z Tee surface, the covered tee line allows students to perform hitting drills during inclement weather. STI’s E Z Tee system is a naturalistic synthetic turf designed specifically for driving range tee lines. In addition to being able to hit directly off the surface, golfers can also hit off a regulation golf tee placed in the E Z Tee surface.
Commenting on the project, STI President William Campbell states, “Our synthetic surfaces are predictably consistent. We are honored to be involved in this project. David Leadbetter’s teaching methods have revolutionized the game of golf.” IMG Academies delivers world-class sports training experiences to over 12,000 junior, collegiate, adult and professional athletes each year.
